“Life is but a Weaving”-Corrie Ten Boom

“Life is but a Weaving” (the Tapestry Poem)

Corrie Ten Boom

“My life is but a weaving
Between my God and me.
I cannot choose the colors
He weaveth steadily.

Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;
And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
And I the underside.

Not ’til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas
And reveal the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful
In the weaver’s skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned

He knows, He loves, He cares;
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives the very best to those
Who leave the choice to Him.”

  3. Corrie Ten Boom was such a wonderful example of grace and love and compassion all rolled into a faith that would never let her go in the depths of the most evil that surrounded her. Her book “The Hiding Place” made me understand the grace that extends to all if we but accept it. She is long gone, but her impact will never leave anyone who knew of her. Thank you for sharing her beautiful poem. I have loved it for years.

    • Thank you for your comment! A friend told me about The Hiding Place a few years ago, but I still haven’t read it! It’s on my reading list, so I should read it soon. Thank you for the reminder and for visiting this site! 🙂
